technical VMware question

hey guys i`m new to this kind of visualization stuff and i just want to know if can i install some OS using VMware to your extra HDD? i actually tried bootup test on VMware with these OS like Vista,W7,Ubuntu,and Linux Mint..but i never actually tried installing it,its just don't have enough HDD space to test it, so what can you about this?

When you load an OS within VMWare, it simply creates a file on your C drive, or any other drive that you specify. In addition, it starts the virtual operating systems file out small and grows over time to a maximum. So, you can usually load a working copy of Windows Xp and it only takes about 2GB of space total.

There is no problem creating a virtual machine on any hard drive installed in your computer that has sufficient hard drive space.

Correct. I have all mine on an external USB attached disk. You lose a little bit in performance but it's hardly noticeable.
