Hey guys. I'm trying to setup a Console Server and I'm having issues with the software not recognizing Windows Telnet. (YES I enabled Telnet). Basically I have the correct path but Windows says 'telnet.exe not found', and the file-browser skips over telnet.exe.

The SDTConnector application is running Java, so I'm guessing this is some x64 vs x86 issue, but I am extremely frustrated and would appreciate any and all workarounds.

Just a guess: Did you restart after enabling Telnet?
Check NTFS permissions for it. Add everyone full control and see if it helps.

Sometimes Java needs JAVA_HOME environment variable, did you set one? Setting JAVA_HOME Variable in Windows

Thanks for the help! I think you're on the right path.

I get an Access Denied message when I try to change the telnet.exe or System32 folder permissions. This happens even when logged in as Administrator.

I've created an Environmental Variable.
Name: JAVA_HOME
Value: C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_51

Since you can see the folder contents and not the individual exe, don't bother changing the folder permission. I wonder if it will run if you copy paste it to another location.

Edit: Hmm, nope doesn't work, opens the window but nothing displayed

Try changing permissions with GiveMePower Download

Another one just came to my mind is run your program as admin

GokAy. I moved telnet.exe and it actually was able to launch! The command line prompted me for a user:pass but didn't accept anything whatsoever.

I', very frustrated with this Tripp-Lite Console Server and I'm not sure it's going to be able to access a Windows 2008 server through the serial-port as I had hoped.

I'm going to try a different brand's Console Server, which looks like it has better end-user support.
