Temperature Question: Watercooled PC

I have an AMD FX-8350 with a Cooler Master Seidon 240 AIO water kit. I use four 120 mm fans in a push-pull configuration, and the rad is mounted on the top of the case. There are two 120 mm intake fans on the front of the case, one 120 mm on the side panel, and one 120 mm exhaust fan in back.

I think my CPU idle temp is too high.

My ambient room temp is 21C or less
Motherboard temp is 21C
GPU temp is 24C (at idle, air cooling)

CPU idle temp is 35C

To me that is rather high for idle with watercooling. I should note that I run the PC in High Performance mode, without using Cool and Quiet (Speedstep for you Intel boys), and my CPU Vcore is 1.368V (set to auto). The PC is currently running at 4 GHz with a 200 MHz turbo setting now and then. It is not overclocked.

The PC never gets above 50C at full load, but isn't 35C a little high for idle in this situation? I would have thought that the watercooler would reduce the idle temp as well as the max temp. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong.

Hmm well it wouldn't bother me MH as long as that full load temp doesn't get any higher than that as the stated max temp for it is 61C Access denied

Now that is a reasonably aged CPU mate have you tried redoing the compound??

By disabling thermal management you have eliminated the concept of idle, as your cpu is now cranking along even when its just sitting there.

What sort of fan controller are you using to control the case fans? Are you using the fan headers on the motherboard or have you installed a separate fan controller?

Maybe the ratio of low temp/high temp fan speeds is causing the readings you have, ie. the fan efficiency could be better at high temperature than with low temperature.

Exactly, you should let your cpu clock down when it`s at idle, then you should be in the 20`s.

But even 35 is a tic high for 4.0 GHz

I guess I can try that for a while and see how it works again. I remember disabling it because the lag when doing things was very annoying. That may have been a software issue though.

I'll try Cool and Quiet and see if that helps.
