When I was copying a files onto a disk in my cd burner, somehow EVERY file (hundreds) in "my documents" appeared in the temporary files of my cd burner. I deleted the temporary files, but then every file in "my documents" had a lock icon over the file. I went into my "recycle bin" and put them back into the cd burner temporary files, and then the lock icon were off of my files in "my documents". When I click on the drive, it doesn't list all these files. They only show up when I try to burn a disk. When I turn on my computer, a balloon shows up saying I have files waiting to be burned.
I no longer can copy to a disk because all of my documents are in the temporary files.
I'm afraid to delete the files from my recycle bin because I'm afraid I will lose ALL of my documents.
I don't want locks on my documents either.
Can someone help me? I am computer illiterate and would need step-by-step instructions.

Can I just click on the "my documents" folder, then on "copy", and then paste it onto my desktop? Since it is such a large folder, will my desktop hold it?

Right click Documents folder and click properties. It will show how large the folder is. Then open Windows Explorer and click Computer, it will show free space on C. If it fits copy paste to desktop (this is only temporary, as a short term backup). Then reset the files waiting to be written as shown in tutorial.

I checked the size, and I have enough free space in my C drive. Do I just right-click on the "my documents" file, and copy and paste it onto my desktop? I don't know what you mean by "reset" the files. Nor do I know what tutorial you are talking about. Would I just click on "delete temporary files" in my cd drive and then delete them from my "recycle bin"? After I do that, and if I lose all my files in "My Documents", do I then just copy all the files that I had copied to my desktop into "My Documents"? I used to understand copying and pasting and never had any trouble, but I haven't been able to do simple things in Windows 7 that I used to do in XP. Almost every week, something is going wrong. I thank you for your reply and your patience with someone who is afraid to try anything without help now.

Hi,

I have the same problem of the burner placing locks on files to be burned.

The solution is simple:

1) Use CCleaner from Piriform to remove temporary files

2) Set permissions to inherit from parent on locked folders
- Right click parent folder (In your case My Documents)
- -> Properties -> Security -> Advanced
- Select Authenticated Users
- Change permissions
- Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions
from this object
