Solved Teredo Tunnel Adapter is not working

So I have one of those yellow warning things on my PC in the control panel. The message is that the Teredo Tunnel Adapter is not working. Error 10. There's tons of "fixes" on the internet, but none of them work for me. It seems that the driver is OK. I tried the registry edit thing. Makes no difference.

Do I need to keep it or can I just uninstall? If I need it, how can I fix it and what caused it?

I had an issue with Teredo Tunneling Adapter some time back. As to why it happened I don't have a clue but I'm pretty sure that it's required to establish a Homegroup in Windows 7.

Having tried a number of different suggestion from the Internet none worked. But, following these directions resolved my issue. Perhaps it will help you, unless you've already tried this one.

I did everything you instructed. After I re-installed I got the yellow flag again. The message is that it will not start.

To I need to have it?

If you followed the directions carefully and you are still having the issue then I don't have any other advice to offer. As I said everything else I tried did not correct the issue for me. By the way they were not my instruction but rather the author who posted them to the Internet.

Teredo Tunneling Adapter is required to create a Window 7 Homegroup, beyond that I don't know what other issues may arise from it's failure to start. To be honest I only became aware of my issue when I tried to create a Homegroup. Prior to that I did not notice the adapter problem with other system operations.

If you are not going to use a Homegroup and not experiencing other system problems I would suggest to just leave it as is until someone with more knowledge then I jumps in.
