TES Oblivion is not working

I know this ground has most likely been tread, bulldozed, and purged with fire and salt, but i cannot for the life of me get TES Oblivion to work. At some point in time in the past i tweaked the settings just right and got it to work, but now it's not doing anything.

To clarify, I load up the Oblivion launcher, I click on Play, and moments later a small blank black box appear at the top left of my screen, and then I get the general Windows error message "Oblivion has stopped working. Checking for a solution to the problem" etc. etc. It never finds a solution. I have tried every combination of solutions i can think of and still have not come to a fix.

I am running a 64 bit Toshiba with Windows 7 Ultimate OS. Please, please, does some one have an answer for me?

I would like to make a rather sheepish correction at this time. It seams that I forgot add a mod that I normally use. Without said mod the game will not work. I would very much like to know how to remove this post. sorry about this inconvenience, I should have noticed this.

I think we all can learn a valuable lesson from this: if you think you checked 1000 times with no solution, check again.
