The best way to move data from ThinkPad T60 to Toshiba Satellite

I want to move everything from the ThinkPad T60, which has Win 7 x86 installed on it, to a Toshiba "Satellite" C70D B33k laptop.
The Toshiba has Win 7 x64 installed and running on it, and the Internet connection works.
The HDD is new and is 1Tbyte big.
What would be the best way to get the job done?

Step 1 -- Install all your software and set up the user accounts on the new computer.

Step 2 -- Copy all data from the old computer to an external hard drive, then from the external hard drive to the new computer.

There may be a more automatic way to do it, but the above way is the cleanest way to do it. Also, the fact that one computer has 32-bit Windows (you didn't say what version) and the other has 64-bit Windows 7 likely makes the automatic methods impossible.
