I haven't used AVGDiscDoctor, but try to search in Options or Preferences menu, see what comes up. Or you can try reinstalling the program. If it appears only on shortcut files (.lnk) and you haven't got tons of those, try making new ones.

I found the solution.
Open My Computer.
Click Organize on top left corner.
Select Folder and Search Options.
Go to view tab.
Scroll down to the option "Use check boxes to select items"
Uncheck it, click apply.
Post results.
