It's late pretty much everywhere, so I'm writing this to meself probably. For the background on this you all might want to see my last post at >>

https://www.sevenforums.com/general...ing-lynxos-bootable-cd-r-usb-hd-new-post.html

Just happened to see some UK flags here & there in the forums. To let you Brits know we in the Colonies still support you, I thought I post a pic I took a few hours ago of how I proudly fly the Union Jack.

Britannica.jpg

Let's see what kind of true Brits reside here. No cheating by researching online! If any Yank guesses correctly, I'll know for sure he/she cheated.

I think the camera was far away enough to hide any script...so...what is the flag siting on?

...uh.."fender" doesn't get it.

I'm actually not into cars, especially foreign cars, so I have no idea what kind of car it is. If I guess I'll probably be made fun of. LOL All I know is it probably has a a speedometer in Km and takes "litters of fuel", *cough* I mean petrol). :D

To those outside the U.S. Our cars have MPH and KMH. It's in case anyone goes up the Canada I suppose... Maybe even Mexico uses Km. I'd have to see in Google Street View.

I seem to remember my French teacher having a car like that.

As far as I can see it's a Bristol Probably a 400 series [403?],but the tint on the headlights would suggest a continental connection.

By the way, the flag is more correctly a Union Flag, the union Jack is technically only applied when use in a Naval context ;)

Nope on the speedo. That's the original. The gas gauge on the left, does say Petrol.
mph.jpg

Although the Owner's Manual has the metric #s in ( ), I think that's due to their foreign sales, like to your French teach. In the '50s they were still using our system...or we were using theirs (don't want to offend any Brits here)

Kinda looks like a ink support...actually it's the hole left in the fender after I removed the worthless mirror. How the hell anyone could see what's behind him from a small shaky mirror 4ft away beats me. After mounting some custom ones on the doors, I was left with a big hole..had a couple of beers on the subject & bought a black antenna at the auto parts store, & fashioned it into a flag pole.

At least we have one car guy in da group here. That's it exactly Barman...1953 Bristol 403. There's so few left, I'm surprised you figured it out. Over here you can count the ones fit to drive on 1 hand.

I changed the fog lights to amber when we re-wired the car. I wired them to stay on while the engine runs..looks cool, plus a tad safer... Fog?...in So. Calif?

I actually knew about the naval connection with the flag several dozen of years ago. But like other things, it seemed to have fallen into that bottomless pit of my brain.

I had a friend who's father used to recondition old classics, and picked up a small amount of knowledge through osmosis, I did pick up a bit of the disease, but only stretch back to the start of this century, currently driving a 2004 french hatchback [285 BHP 0-60 sub 6 Sec] :D Just gone through it's annual test and only fault was Brake Pads worn :-) through over use :o

I prefer my classics to be a little smaller. Here's mine. No prizes for recognising it, it's a '60s Mk1 Austin Mini Super Deluxe.....

With almost 300HP in it, yea, I bet that car hauls. Plus, I bet it gets decent fuel mileage at the same time.Looks like a real sleeper. I couldn't make out if it's right hand drive. I'm guessing it is. I didn't know the French made their cars RHD for exporting to the UK. Is it auto or manual trans?

Your right about the disease part....had to get rid of the women in my life to pay for this hobby...or did they get rid of me...forgot.

What a beaut! That's exactly the car I wanted to get. I always wanted to have a RHD Oldtimer (the German word for classic cars, & yes, they use the English word). At the online auction there were several Minis, Spitfires & others in that price range. However, they were all getting bids over current market values. I don't get attached to a car that I can afford to get it at any price, so I passed.

The Bristol came up later & I thought, "What a sharp looking car". Looking at the expected selling price I lost interest. But I quickly did some research & saw the 2 bids were way under that price. I topped their bids & got the car. It was 50% over my budget, but I cut my cat's food rations in half & should regroup the amount in 20yrs or so. An Aussie owner of several 400 series Bristols, said I stole it at the selling price. That made me feel good after spending 1 year & a lot of $$ to make it a reliable driver.

Yours looks like a really nice restoration. I'm sure it runs as good as it looks. Bet you get a ton of well deserved smiles when folks see you on the road...really sharp. Get a Hot babe in a Mini Skirt, boots, etc to pose w/ it

If anyone has a interesting car, modern or classic, please post it here. Even if it just has an interesting story behind it.
