The device just connects to your PS3 and acts as a controller plus it has another dongle which again connects to your ps3 and streams the image. IF I understood it correctly from Joystiq post. :P So it actually is just wireless controller and TV merged. :)

That sounds about right to me...

The details of it are still not entirely known...
