the problem of lap battery that loses chargeability

one of the main advantages of LAPTOP over PC is the portability . this portability is attained by getting rid of the constant wall socket AC power through a 'Battery' ...

batteries are not forever-working components but a lifetime limited component .

my problem is that my new laptop battery lost chargeability after less than a year !
i bought a new one and it also lost chargeability .. long time back till now i use my laptop on the AC mains ...

is there any danger in using the device in the ac mains ?

what causes the battery to this problem ?

It will not cause any problems to run your laptop on AC all the time. I would suggest you remove the battery. This will prevent the battery from overcharging, overheating, etc and causing possible damage to the laptop.

As to why the battery won't hold a charge, it's hard to say. There are several variables involved. For example, just because you owned the battery for less than a year doesn't mean the battery was manufactured a year ago. It could have been sitting on a shelf in a warehouse for several years before you bought it. It could have been exposed to temperature extremes while in the warehouse. These two things alone could affect how well the battery holds a charge.

You also didn't say if the battery is nickel-cadmium (nicad or NiCd), nickel-metal-hydride (NiMH), or lithium-ion (Li-Ion). Each battery has different charging requirements so as to prevent building up a "memory effect". Most notable in Nicd batteries, the battery is not allowed to drain fully before recharging. Eventually the battery will not hold a full charge.

i dont know about type of battery but i do think its (Li-Ion) ..

yes , am interested in hearing this , we costumers and non-professional buyers dont know about this and may dont think about ....

one note , the first battery of mine was the laptop's battery itself .. not a replaced one .
that one had been spoilt less than a year after !
i think there is a difference b/w laptops original - at the time of purchase- battery and the replacement battery
