The Profile Service service failed the logon.

I have just added a new account to my machine, local or domain it does not matter. When I login to the new account I get the following message "The Profile Service service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded."

I have tried Vista - The User Profile Service failed the logon. User profile cannot be loaded. but I do not have any existing profiles to delete, modify, or copy. And system restore has been disabled.

I am running Windows 7 Enterprise 32 bit.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am confused (like that is hard...). You said there is an account you are trying to login to, but you also say you don't see any profiles to delete. Could you explain? Is there an account at the login screen that you don't see when logged in as the Admin?

Have you tried to create another account to see if the problem persists?

Did you by any chance delete the Default user profile (Users\Default)?

There is a Default profile, which I have not deleted.

I am using the default Administrator account.

If I create another local account it shows up at the login screen as a choice but gives me the profile service error when I select it.

I don't have any profiles in the registry (some number.bak) or under c:\users to delete like the vista help page listed.

I tried creating a 3rd account and the same thing happens.

Hello Shimminb, and welcome to Seven Forums.

In your case here without any way to fix the accounts normally, you might consider doing a repair install while logged in (not in Safe Mode though) with the built-in administrator account in an attempt to have the user accounts restored with Windows 7 during the repair install. If it does not, then you should still have the C:\Users\(user-name) folders for the accounts that you can copy the users accounts files to backup from. If not, then see step 17 at link above to find the user files.

The installation failed. I ran out of disk space for the install. I only have 25 gig free. Do you have any other ideas?

It seems you may need to back up what you can while logged into the built-in administrator, then do a clean install instead then.
