Hi tzakuzi,

Welcome to Seven Forums.

A fundamental question: What made you to decide that you have a problem with corrupt master boot record? What was the effect of such " corrupt master boot record" that made you sit up and take any corrective measure?

Is your external HDD not accessible?

Was it accessible before?

Have you tried it on other USB ports?

Have you changed the cable and tried?

Have you tried that HDD on any other PC and with what result?

If your ext HDD shows up Windows Disk Management, please post a screenshot.

I know, too many questions :). But let us get a complete picture.

( If your PC has Windows 8 64bit, why did you not raise the query in Windows 8 Forum?)
A missed question added now.:) Do other external drives work on the machine?

I have already tried it on other Desktops, but it didn't worked out. yes it worked before
this what happens after it didn't work out.
After Plug it in on my other desktop OS is "Windows XP"
after waiting to load, I opened the IDM tray icon, then suddenly the Explorer freezes
while the External HDD started autoplay. I canceled it
then unplugged the external hard drive w/o safely removing it. (well ofcourse i can't safely remove it)

then theirs error popping up. and then when I plugged it again it doesn't detect anymore.
I have also tried other cable still the same,

the model is WD mypassport it has different HD when I opened so I can't directly mount on a SATA cable.

You still haven't answered the fundamental question what made you think it is a problem with a corrupted MBR and try to rectify it?

Anyway, install Partition Wizard Home Edition 8 on your Windows 8 desktop.

Plug in only your problem external drive, run Partition Wizard and post a screenshot to examine how your external drive shows up in it.

If it shows as RAW, then you will run Partition Recovery Wizard to check whether it restores your partition.

If it does not help try rewrite MBR in it.

Let us see how things go.

"the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error".

I cannot get my external portable usb hard drive (Seagate FreeAgent Go 1 TB) to initialize. I get the message: "the request could not be performed because of an I/O device error". Sounds like I have a similar issue. Also, I don't have any beeps. Thanks
