For SOME posts it might have merit limiting the posts to 140 chars

but then we'd get that HORRIBLE mobile phone "text-ese"

Whenever I see any post where YOU is abreviated to u (or U) and other stuff such as UR (or ur) I just leave that post.

If people can't be bothered to communicate clearly emphasising their salient points - then why bother.

And BTW I HATE things like twitter.

Maybe George Orwell's "Newspeak" in his novel 1984 wasn't so far from the truth.

(For some of our more literally challenged readers this Novel forecast a socialist (Old school Soviet type) future where history was always being re-written to suit what ever the current conditions were. One of the main means of supressing expression of thought was to gradually modify the language by reducing the number of available words until it just contained what "The Party" ordained.
A great classic read BTW).

But where do you draw the line on what abbreviations are acceptable or not?

p.s. I hasten to add I hate text-ese too.

p.p.s. As post script is abbreviated to p.s., should it not follow that IMO or BTW should be written as I.M.O. or B.T.W?

I often listed to Twit or Windows Weekly. It's not that I am truly enamored with the level of tech chat...it's simply the fact that it is tech chat. It's something that I can listen to in the background at work and sometimes pick up something interesting and then google it some more.

If somebody knows of better weekly podcasts, by all means please share them with me.

It's a daily podcast, Buzz Out Loud and The 404 are great.

I have listened to most of the Tech podcasts and I find them very childish with far too much attempt at humor and little tech substance.
Too many people all trying to talk at the same time. The loudest usual wins.
Not recommended.
