Here is a handy collection of DOS programs all on a single disc. Brink didn't want to add it to the free software database because it hasn't been updated in awhile. However, they are ALL DOS programs and don't need updating. MSDOS is the same it's always been. Anyway, the utilities on here is mind blowing, and I would be lost without this disc. View it HERE

If you scroll down the page, you can view what's included in the disc. I constantly use this bootdisc, so I thought I would pass it along to SevenForums members.

WOW. Used many of them back in the 1980's.
Many of us learned in Basic. I used to write programs like pong in basic. Hundreds of lines just to make a ball bounce across the screen. LOL

It was a solid framework for what I know now.
Thanks

I used to love all those little single floppy utilities, like CMOSSAV. I was bummed when they stopped putting floppy drives in PCs until I realized you can adapt most of 'em to boot from a USB key. Although some USB keys I've had have been less dependable than a 3 1/2" floppy disk.

Yeah, the good old days:

80 If $a > $b goto 100
90 goto 150
100 print "$a is better than $b"

heh heh

No problem. I too learned MSDOS right out of the gate. Then on to A+, then C++. All these programs still work like they use to, because like I said, MSDOS hasn't changed a bit. You simply cannot find a more comprehensive set of DOS programs than this.

Every single one of my rigs has dual floppy drives in it. I won't buy a case without 2 floppy bays. ;)

Since having just found out about the newest Ultimate Boot Disc that runs in the Windows evironment, I went to their forum and started to check stuff out. I found a thread where it explains how to make up an installation DVD for Windows 7, and Vista, that gives you the option to install either the 32-Bit, or the 64-Bit version. You can read the instructions here: CLICK ME

What a useful tool! I'm unaware of any other utility that will give you the option as to what platform you would like to install right at bootup. Thanks again for the link!

No problem. That boot disk has been a priceless addition to my troubleshooting arsenal. Glad I could help out.

I hear that. I just looked for this thread and couldn't find it. I still wish Brink would add this to the free software list. This disc is the final word on DOS programs. Period.

Also, I made a master Windows 7 boot disc using this utility. I can repair, or install ANY version of Seven, on either the x86, or x64 platform. Now I don't have to tote a crapload of discs around with me when I do the million Hewlit Packard repairs I do each year.

This would be a nice addition to the list. We are using it for different purposes but that is what makes this software so great. I have had machine that would BSOD at bootup and had no other alternative but to factory restore or repair. I pop this disk in and run SAS or Avira and all is good. That's just the tip of the iceberg. You have file recovery, registry editors, hard disk tools, and so much more. All this and you also have networking available. This boot disk is a Swiss army knife.

I use it for all kinds of stuff too. Zero out drives with SeaGate's DiskWizard 2003. Do hard drive repairs with MaxBlast...etc...etc. Too many things to list. It's the very first thing I grab when I go to do a customer repair, or something around the house.

Absolutely! 99.9% of the time you never have to reach in the bag for anything else.
