The weirdest mouse and keyboard lock-up I've ever encountered.

I thought being specific in my thread title would get specific help.

So I just rebuild my computer, all new parts. My computer runs great, way faster then my old rig. A few days in my mouse and keyboard lock up at random, I'm never doing anything specific, and its not something that happens everyday. Sometimes I can go days without it happening. The part that confuses me is that nothing else is every effect. I've had it happen when I'm watching a movie and the movie continues completley unaffected, the system clock keeps going. I've had it happen while listening to music and my music continues on forever etc. you get the point.
The only way I can fix it is by resetting my computer from the front panel. My mouse is am A4 Tech optical mouse (Model: Swop- 3) I've had it for 6 or 7 years now without a single problem across mutiple rigs and multiple iteration of windows 7; My keyboard is an old BenQ keyboard (Model: x700) I've only had it about a year, but it used to belong to my buddy for a few years before that.
I've scoured the internet but nobody has had a mouse and keyboard lock up that didn't affect other parts of the computer. I have a crazy tech guy (Used to run a Geek Squad) and he's a little stumped too.

Trying to figure out why this happens could take for ever. No proper drives to some circuit over heating. Just wrap the old faithful mouse and keyboard up and have a little respectful ceremony and give a nice place in the proper recycle bin. Keep the mouse and keyboard together because they have been faithful partners for years. A few special words over the recycle bin would be nice. After the wake I would just go and buy another mouse and keyboard and hope they serve you as well as your two lost buddies have.

Yeah just about what I said Bear only I think you were a little more "diplomatic";)

On the bright side Hades depending on what you want I have backlit ones now - Microsoft do two nice ones Sidewinder x4 and x6 both are gamers but for sheer comfort no one makes them like Microsoft I dislike intensely the clunky sharp edge half house brick types that you pay a fortune for and they come with some nice software too. (Mind you the x6 is scarce now and the x 4 is a tad clunky.)
For a wireless set this is such good value too http://www.pccasegear.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=113_1001&products_id=22182 and again nice smooth keypad tops.
I just bought my ex wife one of these to and it is a beauty AZIO Large Print Tri-Colour Illuminated Keyboard [AZ-KB505U] - $45.00 : PC Case Gear as you can change the colour pattern too:)

The mice I use are Gigabyte M6900 - gamers again - run 3200 DPI and I only paid $25 for each.
Gigabyte M6900 Optical Gaming Mouse [GM-M6900] - $25.00 : PC Case Gear so for a little outlay you be back at "work":)
