The Windows 8 installer opens up 2 tabs in my browser

When I get to the part in the Windows 8 installer that it tells me what needs to come to my attention, instead of opening a little browser inside of the program as I guess it's trying to do, it opens up 2 tabs in whatever browser is my default. This would be fine if the buttons in the web pages still modified the actual installer, but they don't and therefore the installer is effectively stopped.
Here's what it looks like:

I read on another thread that making IE the default would fix it, but I tried that and it did not work.

I realize that a Windows 7 support forum might not be the best place for this, but I figured I would ask here first because I'm trying to updated from Windows 7.

Yes, I did that yesterday, but it still had the other message.

I don't know why it's back. I guess I'll remove it again.

Yeah, that just wants you to confirm you know that you will have to reinstall your other languages, if you click confirm does the install proceed?

No, all of the browsers (including IE) don't seem to communicate with the program; If I click a button in any of them, the install just sits there.

I burned a Windows 8 disc, and ran it while Windows 7 was up.

When I click confirm nothing happens.

If I click refresh in the program, it just opens up 1 or 2 more tabs with that data in it.

I have booted it, but I would much rather keep all of my programs if at all possible so I really would like to do an upgrade.

Yeah, I was considering registering and starting a thread there now.

Yeah, you don't want to boot from it if you want to do an upgrade install.

Start at option four here,

Upgrade Install to Windows 8 or Windows 8.1

Yeah, I'm following everything in Option Four, but in steps 9 and 10 it doesn't account for if I DO have issues that were found. So it doesn't help a whole lot.

Maybe if I can just get around it telling me that I'll need to reinstall my language packs. Like, maybe I could remove the language packs that aren't compatible so that's not even an issue. Is that feasible?

I attempted booting it at one point, but when I tell it that I want to upgrade it says I need to do that inside of Windows 7 and that's as far as I got with that.

Ok, I'll try to uninstall the language packs :)

OK, you are just going to have to sift through all your installed updates.

Some are the language packs for the OS, others are IE11 languages, since the win 8 installer didn't specify which, I'd get rid of all of them.

Do you use any of them? You can always hide an unwanted optional update like that if you don't need it.

No, I don't ever need them haha
But at one point or another I guess I thought it'd be worth sitting through hours of updating for *shrug* lol
