The Witcher menu freezing. When I try to load/save a game

Dying or continuing my game is way more painfull for me than other people. Every, I mean every time I die I load the damn game, than it freezes for like 3 minutes and than I can pick my saved game and load it. And same thing when I turn my game on and I want to continue my save, the damn menu freezes for 3 minutes and than starts loading the game . I checked the task manager a few times and it say the program is not responing, so im quessing it takes about 3 minutes for the computer to unjam the damn game. I kinda think the game wants to crash on me but is just being nice and decides to not do it half way. And its not only loading the game. The menu freezes for 3 minutes even when I try to save in a notquicksave way

Just to be clear im talking about witcher 1, not 2. I have the latest patch, but that really didnt fix anything, I have no other problems with the game, it never crashes on me nor does it lag, everything else seems to work nice. Its just the damn 3 minute freeze. Guys really help me out. I wanna finish the damn game, but I think I will smash my comuter on the wall with anger before it happens. Thanks in advance.

Onboard graphics? You don't meet the requirements, so that is more than likely why its crashing.

I dont have a onboard and the game does not crash it freezes. I can easly continue the game after the freeze. Like I said it occures when I press load in the menu, than the game freezes for 3 minutes and after 3 minutes I can pick my save and continue playing. The Witcher has never crashed on me. Thanks for the reply thou.

How many saves do you have? I found that having a lot of saves (I had over 1GB) seemed to freeze my game when I tried accessing the load menu. Try deleting some!

Hmmm, thats acctually a good point. I dont recall having that freeze when I first started playing it.
edit: Well no wounder the freaking savefile was 8.6gp since quicksaving creates a new file. It worked thank you soo much. Now to play it till the end.
