There is a folder named by 'Downloads' creating inside the 'public doc

Hi everyone!


I am quite surprised that there is a folder named by 'Downloads' inside the 'public documents' folder. whenever I deleted it, I saw it recreated again after logging in.
I don't know what this folder is for, and how I can get rid off it.
I really tried restoring many system points created before installed many programs, driver software and windows updates. One oldest of them managed me to get rid off this folder. However, this restoration got my system back to very older point, so I would need to reinstall all program, drivers, and updates again. However, I don't want to do this.
Besides, I couldn't even know what creates this folder after restoration.
The most strange thing is that 'downloads' folder is created inside the 'public documents' folder and not 'public downloads' folder as it should have been.

I simply remove the public documents, music, picture and video folders.

I don't think it is so because I have not seen it after resotring system point. Thus, there is something wrong going on.

But as I said that the system point was so old, which requires me to reinstall everything, so I have undone the restore point.


Besides, I have removed the 'public documents' along with its folder 'downloads' created automatically whenver I log in, but it is recreated again when I log off and log in.

Could anyone please reply me why whenever either delete 'public documents' along with its subfolder 'downloads', or delete only subfolder 'downloads', then it is recreated again when I log off and log in.

If this were normal, I would be encountering this when I restored my system to an earlier point. However, I didn't see this folder is created at all.

I really was intending to keep this earlier restore point and then reinstall everything. However, it was so old.

In fact, I have been instlling and reinstalling many versions of Windows 7; however, I really have never ever come across such a folder 'downloads' is created in 'public documents' folder.

Thus, could you at least let me know which program creates this folder? I really checked out its original location, which is in Data partition "D" inside 'public folder\public documents'

So I don't think I should change public user 's profile folder back to its old default location as long as the problem is only with 'downloads' folder

Did you read the article at the link I gave you?

It is a normal party of Windows 7. You can't get rid of it and if you try it will come back. Maybe the restore point you had was after you had deleted it before it was recreated, I don't know, but it is normal.

Why is this an issue for you?

Thank you very much, I really read the link you provided. But I saw that public folder is really important if you want to share some files to the other users.
It is no issue at all for me. However, as fas as I know everyone wants to be familiar with what each folder or file is for in order to delete it if it is only redundant.
I really know that each folder or file will be created by a program or a task. so this folder is recreated by what task or program

To be quite sure about this, I really now explored an image created by Macrium, but I didn't see such a folder inside 'Public user\public documents', although this image created immeditately after doing a clean install of Windows and then installed updates.

I really would insist that I have reinstalled many Windows 7s, but I have never come across such a folder.

My W7 created three "download" folders, in network, user and libraries. I create a forth on my D: drive that I actually use. Just ignore them.

I will be telling you the same thing others have but in a different way. I hope it helps.
Public folders are part of Windows 7. I can not tell you why you see or don't see something in a backup. I can't tell you every little tid bit about public folders because I have never worried about them to do a long drawn out study on public folders. I just use them as they were designed to be used.

The Public folders are located in the C:\Users\Public folder, and also included in libraries by default

Please notice the word default above.

I'm presuming that somewhere online by somebody their is a paper wrote on public folders if someone want to do the research for their own enjoyment, but that is not me.

I really know what the public user account is for. However, what I have never ever known is neither a folder nor a file can be created without a program or a task createing them.
In other words, if you install a clean windows 7. Then, you will not find my documents folder inside your current user account empty. However, when you run a program, for instance, 'Windows live writer' will create a folder named with 'My Weblog Posts'. Also, when you run another program, for example, CyberLink YouCam will create 'Youcam' folder. And so on.
If you have a look at my screenshot below, you will be seeing some folders created by their own programs. However, when I installed a clean windows 7, the folder my documents' was empty.

It is true via working windows those folders have been created, but during their programs associated with them.

The same thing with my public user account there was not any folder named by 'downloads' inside 'public documents'

Even if we assumed that windows this folder has been created by working windows, It would be absolutely certain that there is a program has been creating this folder again and again whenever I delete it.
The most strange is even if I have deleted it, it will be recreated again and again when I log off and log in.

I hop you will understand me. Everything on this life should be created by a creater.

But if folders were as part of the "Login" Process, so could you let me know what exactly a program or task of Windows creates this folder.
I really have never seen such folder while using Windows 7 since a long period of time .
However, I have recently been seeing such the folder 'downloads' inside 'public\public documents'

Whenever delete it, it was recreated with 'login' porcess.
