thin client @ windows 7

if we use thin client and installed windows 7 as server..is it compatible we do remote desktop from thin client and use OS windows 7??

What version of the OS are you trying this with? The only version on Windows 7 I can see that might support something like that is Enterprise, none of the rest would allow that type of setup...

NOTE: I must also mention that I've never used Enterprise, so that is merely speculation...

yap i'm installed windows 7 enterprise, and i was tried installed as server and i use hp thin client. for remote desktop from server.

bt seems can't..because windows 7 just for desktop. and can't be for use for server.

Ok, more information for you, a quote from Wikipedia (link):

In Windows Server 2008, it has been significantly overhauled. While logging in, if the user logged on to the local system using a Windows Server Domain account, the credentials from the same sign-on can be used to authenticate the remote session. However, this requires Windows Server 2008 to be the terminal server OS, while the client OS is limited to Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista and Windows 7.

You don't need to use Thin Client if what you want is Remote Application. Windows 7 Pro and Ultimate supports RemoteApp natively, no addons needed.

AKA, not official support and therefore should not be relied upon. I stand by what I said.

Yes you can use windows 7 enterprise. We have two Ncomputing X550 cards working on a windows 7 enterprise 64 bit setup. No problem whatsoever. Need quite a bit of RAM though, we have 8Gb DDR3-1333; Phenom II X6 @2.8 Mhz

Ours is a simple Windows 7 Pro PC with 4GB DDR3. I cant speak for other thin client mfgrs, but nComputing works. I have little to no issues.

I have a similar problem and I am hoping someone can help.



I have a PC running windows 7 ultimate and have X550 Ncomputign with XD2 access device (termina) All I am trying to do is run one terminal and everything is fine up to the point where a user has to log in on the terminal.

At first I was getting a message that the user cannot log in because the user is not password protected. Via the Windows 7 setting I have set a password for the user.


Than I got the message that user grups do not have permiotn to log in. I went to Allow remote desktop acess in the windows settings menu and added Everyone in the allow field.

Now when the user tries to log in via the terminal, they get the following message:

"The requested station access is denied"

Can someone point me in the right direction?
