ThinkPad w windows7pro - good to use for streaming video?

My son requires a computer for basic use, email, youtube and streaming Netflix, scanning forms to PDF. I have a ThinkPad w windows 7pro that I could give him if it would serve his needs. I just don't know if it would hold up using it to stream Netflix etc. He would connect it to his TV via a HDMI cable. I know everything is so crammed into the laptop case, using it as he intends, would it quickly ruin it because of heat build up in the case.

there should be no problem using your system if you have the internet speed specified. Most people do these days.
