Lately I found that my third party themes no longer work switching and I don't know why. I use UxStyle as patcher. I tried uninstalling it and installing it back again, or repairing from the Programs and Features menu but it gave me the error that the theme subsystem has been tampered with. So I did an sfc /scannow in an elevated command prompt so I can fix the issues.
The trouble is that I use Windows 7 Starter which doesn't have the ability to change themes altogether out of the box. So when I ran the sfc command it reverted me back to that state of ugly-blue-style-ugly-blue-wallpaper that I had before. I then tried everything: repaired UxStyle, reinstalled it, ran sfc /scannow a gazillion times even in safe mode, even followed some advice on the forum telling to restart the Unsigned Themes service. Nothing worked.
Now I am back again with a genuine personalisation panel fully functional but third party themes reverting to Windows Classic. The theme in use right now is the last 3rd party one that works. If I change it it will go like this (it is this https://nitrium-oxide.deviantart.com/art/Gollum-Windows-7-Aero-and-Basic-Theme-269594078):
