Hi, I recently bought this used laptop, it came with Windows 7 64 bit installed, but no discs. I do have the original disc and activation code for Windows Vista 32 bit. I would like to keep this version of windows, actually I dont care but I dont want to have to reinstall all of my software. Is there some way for me to pay for an activation code from Microsoft without having to reinstall windows and everything?

Here's my WGA stuff:

YOur installation is non-genuine on a number of points.
1) The machine is too old to support an OEM_SLP Key for Windows 7 - despite the fact that the report shows that the SLIC table is apparenttly correct for it.
2) The report shows that RemoveWAT was used to bypass activation and validation requirements.
3) Th eprobability is that uour installation of Office is non-genuine, since it's a Volume License-only edition. Unless you acquired this through your employer or college, it's a counterfeit.

You need to reformat the PC, and reinstall, either with the manufacturer's Recovery Disks, or with a legitimate version of WIndows bought from a reputable supplier. You should be able to purchase a set of disks from Dell for a reasonable price.

You will also need to purchase a legitmate copy of Office, if this is a counterfeit one.

I am having a similar issue. I have purchased a laptop computer from Walmart Thanksgiving Black Friday 2010. The deal was good, so I bought it not noticing it was for a 64 bit copy of windows. I was having problems getting the computer to work in our office, so after much research I determined I needed the 32 bit copy of windows 7. I popped a disk for windows 32 bit in the computer and it automatically started to copy the needed files to install the windows 7 32bit edition. It stored my old settings in a windows.old folder, so I figured this was something really cool that Windows had coded to allow someone to quickly change over to a 32 bit OS. Last week I get a message that my copy of windows is not genuine. I tried entering the code on the underside of my laptop and it stated that it was for a different copy of windows.
The problem I am having is I now have a working laptop with windows 7 that has been working fine for a long time. I don't want to have to buy a new OS license. Does anyone have any help that isn't going to involve running the pirating program as I don't intend to use something illegally.
Any help is much appreciated.

Please open a NEW thread of your own, and include your own MGADiag report.

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.
- **in your own thread**, please
Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine, but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!
