From the how-to link above:
4. Search for file like %PROGRAM_FILES%\ Trojan:win32/alureon.tk \ and delete it manually.
The ":" isn't a legal character in a Windows file name. If there's a filename with a ":", you can access and delete it with Linux (a boot CD or whatever)*. Also, the little "
unlocker " program is very handy for deleting stubborn files.
*Linux can put (and delete, etc) files with ":" in the names on NTFS filesystems, but Windows will just give you errors if you try to access them.

And also I recommend to do another scan with Hitman just to be sure !

Uh uh...I'm afraid...I'm sorry. However, if anything else pops up, I will report back in a new thread.

I'm not worried about the OS here...and Ubuntu is good and all but I don't think I could get used to it.
If you take the time and learn Ubuntu (or any linux), then we won't need this 5 page thread on MBAM and Hitman. But Linux isn't for everyone - some people can't get used to it. But if you ask me, the only reason those people can't get used to it is because they don't have the patience to learn it. With patience you can learn anything.
This reminds me of my brother who isn't very computer literate by the way - he is willing to run bunch of anti-spyware/anti-virus suites with Windows Vista (ouch!) along with Deep Freeze - all in all to slow down his computer but he couldn't be bothered to learn Linux even though he does have time to learn (but simply lacks the patience). Oh and he never makes Backup because he is sort of an idiot.
