Backup Files do not want to be deleted

Hello everybody, this is my first trip to these forums. I'm not the greatest with computers, so I'll describe stuff the best I can.

My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium, if that is important. There is a windows backup that I am not interested in using, with a recovery drive on my computer. That drive says that it has 10 GBs of the 12 filled up. I found out how to stop the Backup a while ago by stopping the schedule, but now I'm having another problem.

What I want to do is delete the files backed up. I looked online and saw that there should be a Manage Space link somewhere, but that doesn't exist for me. I think the reason is that my computer says "The last backup was cancelled" (not sure why that's spelled with two "L"s), which I had to do because it keeps requesting I insert a removable media disk or usb in when I do try to complete the backup.

I think that if the backup can be completed, I'll be able to manage the files and delete them all. I was worried that a lack of space might have been the problem, so I set it to just back up a folder with a txt file in it. It didn't exactly work. It also won't recognize any CD or USB that I put in to continue the backup when it asks for one.

I've played with the settings everywhere, and I can't seem to get into that Recovery drive to delete stuff. Help would be appreciated.

Not quite understanding you.

Your "recovery drive" is not likely to be where your backup is stored. That drive more likely contains files you can use to make recovery disks so you can restore your hard drive to its original condition.

Do you want to delete the recovery drive? Why?

Or do you want to delete whatever backup files you may have made, accidentally or on purpose, using Windows Backup and Restore?
