I had a WD Scorpio blue 640 GB HD inside my laptop but windows started having problems so I took hardrive out of PC and put in external enclosure and did a quick format. Drive seemed to work at this point again ok as a simple volume but to make sure I ran data lifeguard tool I downloaded from WD site. This drive fails quick test and when I tried extended test that took about 5 hrs, bad sectors were detected and I clicked repair but error was detected while preparing bad sectors resulting in extended test fail. Is their another utility or test I should run? Should I have done a more thorough format before running Western digital lifeguard utility or is it time to contact WD for RMA?

Don't waste your time any more. If it fails the diag, has bad sectors, it's not going to get any better. RMA that bad boy asap!
