Tiny artifact by the Start button

Hey there Se7en experts!
I encountered a very tiny oddness which is actually barely visible. It's not even that annoying or something, I'm just curious as to what it might be and if anyone else has experienced the same. It seems to be just a one-pixel wide and about ten-pixel long artifact right in the upper left corner beneath the Start button.
First time I saw it, I thought it was my Display, but here comes the funny thing:
Whenever I open a new window or click on the Start button, it stays in the back and I don't see it, whenever there's a maximized window opened. Also, what made me wonder was the fact that in this exact little space I can't perform a right click, there's just nothing popping up as it usually would. Does anyone have a suggestion as to where this might come from?

Does it do that with any wallpaper? I enlarged that picture and it looks like part of the wallpaper is missing, if it does it with other wallpapers too then it may be something with your monitor. I can't say I've seen that before, at least on mine.

Well, you're somewhat right, it actually does look like a piece of the wallpaper is missing, but then again, as I said, it prohibits a right-click in that space. Going a little farther to the right, say 2 pixels, right-click's no problem. So that indicates there's something else to it, doesn't it?

Hey right back Fritznoff and Welcome to the Forum, I wish I had a definate answer for you but I don't. Sorry. The only thing I can suggest is keep checking back and someone may have seen this before and knows more about what it may be.

are you by chance running a custom visual style?

I wouldn't really call it customized as all I did was changing the window-color to a dark black and putting on a different wallpaper. I used to run the Bing! style which isn't actually a real visual style but just a bunch of continually changing wallpapers. One other funny thing I noticed was when I had a second display attached as an extension of my desktop to the left, I couldn't get past that little bar, again moving just about ten pixels down, no problem but just beneath the Start button it acted like a little barrier. Pretty odd, huh?

very odd, i thought it might be a glitch in a 3rd part theme like those available on this site. but i have no idea what would cause what your experiencing. it's obviously a software issue though and not hardware since it's acting like a barrier and likely not a driver so i'm sorry but i just really don't know what to tell you.

Alright people! I've got the solution. Well kinda... I know which application is causing it, but I still don't know why it does that and how . So whenever I close ICQ, the little bar vanishes and when I open it up again, it reappears. The reason I didn't notice this earlier is that ICQ always starts at booting and I usually don't close it. But as I mentioned, I still don't know why ICQ does that. I reckon it's probably a glitch in the code, perhaps a remnant of the notification pop-ups that appear when someone logged in or sent you a message. I'm gonna ask a couple of friends who use ICQ on Se7en if they experince the same. Perhaps they didn't even notice for it is really small and most of them have the taskbar on the bottom of the screen so it's even less noticeable in that upper left corner where you usually never move your cursor to.
Does anyone in this forum use ICQ on Win7? Anyone having this strange bug without having noticed it?
