Hey everyone well i have took plenty of peoples time asking for help so i figured id compile what i learned into a thread. It is my first build so these tips are probably basic to most but hey maybe it will help another noob like myself.

Real quick heres the build
Antec p183 case
corsair hx 750w power supply
gigabyte x58aUD3R motherboard
wd black 640g
wd back 1 tb
noctua dh-14 cpu fan
i7 950
ocz gold low voltage 1600 triple channel ram 3x2 (would not recommend lots of ram problems so far)
and
ati xfx 5800 1 gig video card

Built the computer for pro tools and gaming.

Well lets see mainly have had RAM problems with this build

TIP #1 Make sure you set the BIOS settings to match your RAM mine came default 7-7-7-16 and my ram was 8-8-8-24. Also check the voltage default was 1.5v needed 1.65v (had to set to 1.66v). I know this is probably basic stuff to most but i spent 2 hours figuring this out haha.

TIP #2 If you have a HDD and mobo that is capable of 6gb/s transfer speed the default cable that comes with the HDD is only capable of 3gb/s transfer speed. Buy seperate cables.

TIP #3 I know this will seem retarded to most BUT when running triple channel RAM you can not stick them in any DDR slot you must put them in accordance with your mobo. DDR 1-3-5 for mine.

TIP #3 Purchase Acronis True Image!!! much better than windows system recovery has saved me hours of time.

TIP #4 BACKUP your progress after every step!!!

sidenotes memtest86 is a great iso for testing memory better than memory diagnostic.
Also i had a hdd crash and is only showing 100mb instead of 640g cant figure out how to get my storage back any help?

I know these tips are basic and simple but whatever i will contribute more when i get smarter hah.
