i have a 8mb tiscali broadband package
shall i ring them and say put me trew to cancellations and go with another provider its ridiculus every since iv started with them i have never got above 5mb let alone 8mb and now tonight im getting the above what the hell ?
i pulled plug out my router n left it for 10 seconds then put it back in again.
I decided to change my ISP and requested a MAC code. The whole procedure was painless, and I am now with O2. I would be inclined to do the same, just because you have been with someone for a period of time doesn't mean you have to stick with them if their service deteriorates. I'm with Plusnet. They're a good company and I'm very pleased with their customer and tech support so I'm sticking with them. I'm supposed to get 8mbps but I very rarely achieve 5mbps and quite often it drops so low that I can't even watch streamed video.
Previously I was with two other ISPs and the story was the same. Supposed to be 8 but more like 2 or 3.
I don't think I've ever seen a download speed as low as yours though.
I would contact your ISP and tell them about your speeds. There may be a problem with the router or with your line.
If that doesn't get results I'd follow Dwarf's advice and request your MAC number. Just requesting it can often achieve remarkable speed increases
