Apologies if the wrong forum.

I have a couple of CDROMS with some software (Bridge the card game) on, but alas I have to insert the CD every time I want to play, not for the duration of play, just the initial start up each and every time, an absolute pain, sorting it out every time I want to play (the software is already loaded), is there a way around this tedious conundrom.
Your thoughts as always most appreciated.;)

There are ways but that functionality is part of the copy protection mechanism for the game. Posting a method to bypass it would likely get you in trouble with the forum mods.

Hi,
There are some third-party programs out there that can extract the files out of the disk. Did you make these disks yourself or did it already come on the disk? If you made the disk or possibly the program came with the disk, you could locate your DVD rom drive open the files but not the program. Then, drag the files to your desktop or to a folder called "Games" or whatever. Hope this helps. WARNING DO NOT GIVE THIS DISK TO A FRIEND FOR HIM TO COPY THAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED "PIRATING" IF YOU BOUGHT THE DISK IT IS YOURS NOT YOUR FRIENDS. IT IS ONLY ENTILTLED TO BE ON "YOUR" COMPUTER.

Thanks for getting back to me: I am the owner of the CDROMS, the properties of the discs show about 10 kbytes, and nothing to copy/paste to all intents and purposes it could be a blank disc, I've tried Daemon tools, power iso, alas no good. I appreciate that this could be infringing copyrights, but I've paid for and loaded & registered this software, so to keep inserting to prove I am the owner is bloody frustrating.

I feel for you, I have a couple of games that won't play unless the DVD is in the drive. It's a pain in the a$$. If it is part of the copy protection, copying the contents of the disk to your hard drive won't work. The developers have thought of that and geared things so that won't work. You would have to create a Virtual Drive with virtual image to insert. Some of the newer games look for that too and can detect it. I have one game that actually installs a driver (SecureRom) and can detect a copied disk versus the original. I can't play that game on my 64 bit system because the "Driver" isn't digitally signed or certified or what ever and Windows 7 won't let it install or run. If SecureRom isn't installed the game won't launch. :(

On and off for the last couple of years, I get a bee in my bonnet over this problem, and today I've revisted this software, I've written to the author of this software and complained bitterly, but it all fell on deaf ears, anyway will stop my rant, it is 6pm here in the UK, time foe for some dinner and a glass of something alcoholic , will probably feel better until the next time. Thanks for your input, until the next time I get on my high horse................cheers. :zip:

There are very few trust worthy applications in this market. The one I recommend is Game Jackal:
SlySoft Game Jackal Pro

I find it suspicious that - as mentioned by the OP - Daemon Tools didn't work. It works on software produced by huge multinational companies which presumably have enough money to waste on elaborate copyright protection schemes; why the hell wouldn't it work for some dinky card game? Need more info. However, as alphanumeric has cautioned, discussing how to bypass these cp schemes isn't kosher here.

I agree, that's why I thanked the people for contributing then signed off, this dinky software as you call it cost approx $150.00 a disc, it is informative as well as being a tutorial, so can understand the company for not wanting copies being made for the black market (what a quaint phrase), anyway have resigned myself to forever doing what is required.
