Just had a very nice lady from Microsoft telling me that MS were trying to send me an update and couldn't so she could help me. I did all she advised to the letter but after she had gone with my credit card details my computer don't work no more! What should i do?

Did she call you or you call her and why did she need your credit card #.
Something smells in Denmark.
I would contact my bank and get a new credit card as this has a smell
of dishonesty!

It's OK my computer has started working again OK. I think the cat had disturbed one of the cables at the back. I just checked them and one was loose. So all is well again. I'm sure I have no need to worry about he lady on the phone. She really did sound very nice.

Find a good bank, transfer funds to them and get a new card issued!
Then have a separate card with small amount in it for buying stuff on e-bay or whatever.
I never give my credit card over the phone with my major account card.

The most they can steal or hack is a couple hundred dollars MAX!

Don't you have to pay for support after a period of time, I'm pretty sure OEM you have to pay for support.

Well this happened last night:

Was at work yesterday afternoon. My girlfriend Ellen sent me a text saying how her laptop isn't working and she just gets a message about the fan not working. Told her I'd have a look at it after work and give it a clean out.

It's a HP Pavilion G6 laptop, so fairly straightforward to disassemble. Got to the heatsink and fan and took it apart and was greeted with this when checking the fan out:

Over time the fan must have just been sucking dust in from various places and it's got caught up and just snowballed round and round until eventually it jammed the fan.

Cleaned it all up and gave everything a good blast with some compressed air and it's as good as new now. Runs much quieter and cooler now after putting some new thermal compound on.
