Got back home from North Carolina late last night. I fired up my computer and discovered my modem and wireless router were toast. My guess is a lightening strike while we were gone. Just finished installing my new router/modem combination and am back on line! After ten days with almost no internet access in North Carolina, I have been suffering severe Seven Forums withdrawal! I had my computer and UPS completely unplugged, so no computer or peripheral damage.

OHHH wow Carl.. now I'm concerned when I'm away from home too..
I always un-plug anything that has anything to do with these 2 pc's.. everything is removed.. even the phone line and the plug in for the printer.. along with the Surge protectors.. I use 2... everything goes totally black .. after I complete the un-plugging of it all... even my desk lamp.
I hope you have homeowners that may help on the cost for any losses.

The modem and router cost less than the deductible. It was not a major purchase by any means and both were several years old. All is good.
