Yeah, I heard on news that because online gambling is forbidden in USA since 2006, the feds closed a few of the biggest gaming sites located in USA. More than 10 people are charged and either arrested or searched with international warrants for arrest (a few Canadians, rest Americans), domains closed, accounts of these sites and companies closed and money confiscated, and so on. One new member is already searching help to continue to earn his living by playing online poker, asking us if he could wor around this issue with proxy: http://www.sevenforums.com/network-sharing/157371-entire-os-all-ports-run-through-proxy.html

The Register's article on this subjext: Feds indict internet poker sites, seize domains • The Register

Seems to be big news. Sorry if I heart someone's feelings now but I would love to see this kind of action in Europe, too. There's simply nothing good in gambling.

Kari,
I have worked to hard for what little money I have so I am not about to play on line poker or gamble it away.
I live about 3 miles from a huge Indian Casino and have only visited it twice when my brother came to town. Have known Nurses who love to go there and lose their paycheck before leaving.
Thanks but no Thanks. Life is the only gamble I am involved in.

Seems I have to clarify my previous post a bit. I think my English made a trick once more, so you understood my post wrong, Dennis. I'm sorry my English syntax sometimes causes my words to be understood completely opposite as I have meant to say.

I said, and meant it, that there's nothing good in gambling, and that's why I would welcome the same action ( = closing the gambling sites) taken here in Europe.

It was meant to be against gambling, not pro. I would like authorities to close online gambling sites here in Europe, too. I was not welcoming casinos to Europe.

Thanks, geeks. We had dinner guests earlier tonight, and I have to admit I had some wine, schnapps and whisky, which automatically always means I make things just more confusing trying to explain them with too many words.

I know I'm not perfect even when sober, but after a few glasses I'm nearing an idiot. By the way, IMO the best joke of Angie's: "Kari, you are not perfect but it's OK. It would be a really difficult situation if we had two perfect persons in this relationship."

Or does she mean that to be taken as a joke...

;) Kari

Today my beloved Finland went to polls, to elect a new Parliament for the next 4 year period. As an ex-pat, I gave my vote last week in Finnish consulate (advanced voting for Finns living abroad was 6th to 9th of April). Following the election ATM live from Finnish TV I can see my candidate went through. A young, liberal woman. First time for me to vote a woman, first time not to vote Republicans. Congratulations, Tuija!

Also first time I really feel afraid for my country of origin. The ultra right party, which had 5 seats out of 200 in old Parliament, is now the biggest winner. When 60% of votes are counted, it looks they are getting 42 seats. Their slogans: send foreigners home, no more asylum seekers and other foreigners, Finland out from European Union, no more Euro, instead they want Finnish Mark (old currency) back. All arguments which I disagree.

Anyway, that's democracy. The people have spoken.

For those interested, European election system in nutshell: Within European union, the people vote in their country of origin in Parliament and President elections, and in their country of residence in local and European Parliament elections. So, I vote (as a citizen of an EU country living in another EU country) in Finnish Parliament and President elections, and in German local (town / district / state) elections and Eurepean Parliament elections.

If I would like to participate as a candidate, I could be a candidate for Parliament of Finland in Finland, President of Finland, town council in Leipzig, Germany, state parliament in state Saxony in Germany, or as a German candidate to European Parliament.

Today I came with a PC and a notebook to fix. The PC needs formatting - lots of virus, and configuration errors (old age users, that start to use the new tool without first make a training) :)

The notebook is of a friend family. Windows Live Messenger don´t connect, don´t uninstall, and don´t give me a chance to do all in a good way. Time to try a system restore. ;)

And I´m still sad... the brazilian recent tragedy still make a havoc in many of us... to the ones that are not aware of our recent sorrow: Why?

Great, Arc.

I just buy this one, from a contact (used, but very good). Formatted it, and pass all my media collection to it.

I'm really afraid now, the results are official. (re: http://www.sevenforums.com/chillout-room/152602-today-7-a-45.html#post1352464).

These neo-nazis got 39 of 200 seats in Parliament, which makes it almost impossible to form a government without giving them some cabinet seats. I fear my native Finland is going to a direction I would have never wanted to see.

Mods, please, I know this is politics and per se forbidden, according to forum rules. Please remove this post if you feel so.
