Memories of 9-11-2001

Ten years ago today I woke and turned the TV on. The today show out of NYC was on a breaking new story of a plane crashing in to the World Trade Center north tower.. The pictures were frightening. Commentators were mulling over how this could have happened. Several minutes later their live picture showed a second plane crashing into the other WTC Tower. My thoughts said, "we are under attack".
Then a report of an "explosion" at the Pentagon. Then a plane missing over Pennsylvania. I had this day off work so I watched in horror as the truth behind all these events unfolded.
A reporter remarked that smoke had obscured the view of one tower. He didn't know at the time WTC2, the south tower, had collapsed. United flight 93 was reported down in PA. The Pentagon explosion was revealed to be yet another plane crashing.
Nineteen terrorists from the Islamist militant group al-Qaeda hijacked four passenger jets killing 2977 people on the ground and on the four aircraft.

It does not seem ten years have passed.

I was asleep until 12:30PM that day, having been out drinking the night before. Someone called my cell phone and woke me up and asked what I thought of what was happening, and I had no idea....quite a shock going downstairs and having my coffee while watching that awful footage.

My sister called long distance. She asked me if I was watching TV, no I said.
"Turn on the TV I'll call you back later."

One tower was billowing smoke and everyone thought accident but how could that be?
Within five minutes the second plane hit and we all knew then......

I went in less than ten minutes a normal boring day in my life, to how tragic, to we are under attack!

ten years ago today ,i was ill . i had had a psychotic episode ( my first) and at that time my belief systems were all over the place ,i was a direct descendent of jesus and that i had special powers, i thought that i lived in a world where people communicated by telepathy ( those that had been switched on that is)
i also thought that because of my special godlike powers that every time i lost my temper that a major disaster would occur and that as i was the latest to be switched on that all the news events were cover stories about me.
needless to say that when the news broke about the towers here in the UK i believed it was my fault and that i was responsible.
that was some burden to carry for a period of a week or so.
Eventually the medication started to work (thankfully!) and my thought patterns regained some sanity.
Ten years on i had a repeat psychotic episode strangely enough with the same belief patterns and this time it was the japan earthquake and tsunami, again the meds kicked in and bent my head back into shape .
9/11 will always have a particular memory for me not just because it reminds me that i was ill at the time ,but i had such a profound feeling of the loss
my sincerest condolences to everyone who holds a connection to that time in life , hopefully one day terrorism and war will be a thing of the past,and that my children witness it.

I was home sick that day, and up feeling ick. At first there was speculation a small plane had crashed into the tower, like the military plane that hit the Empire State building. But then the 2nd jet screamed in to the second tower, and it hit everyone...this was intentional. I called my parents and told them turn on CNN. It was a horrific experience, and quite surreal. The Sunday before we were on our first cruise to Alaska.
I am an early riser so I went up and had breakfast and came back to the room and turn on the television.
Thought I was watching a new movie as I couldn't believe that a small plane could do that much damage. Then the 2nd plane came in and I shook my wife so she could confirm what I was seeing. Could not believe what happened nor will I forget.

Those planes and what they did will forever be etched in my mind.. this mornig while watching some of it before going to church.. ( I missed Sunday School watching some of it ).. had to turn it off , make myself get ready for church services.. met my gf for lunch.
