hi guys, hoping someone can help me out here.

when i plug my earphones or external speakers into the laptop they work fine, the only problem is that i still get sound through the computer speakers, which kinda defeats the purpose of having earphones and makes it hard to watch dirty videos. haha

when i plugged them in before a box used to pop up and i have a feeling the option was on there but i told it not to pop up anymore.

can somebody help me, please???

Welcome to Seven Forums chrisso. I don't have a laptop, but googled a bit, and may have the answer if your laptop has the Realtek HD Audio Manager.

1. from the control panel, Hardware and Sound page, open the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
2. To the right of the page, click on the Analog folder (Connector settings) icon.
3. check the box to enable a pop up box when a device is plugged in and click "OK"
4. plug in your earphones and when the box pops up, click on headphones (vs. lline out)

It's apparently that popup that is the ticket, and you just need it back. Good luck, if no help, let us know your laptop model and we'll look deeper. Let us know. A Guy
