You can basically make any spyware program just a scanner. Just turn off scheduled scans. You can make Windows Defender solely a scanner. If that is what you are asking.

Yeah should only use ComboFix if the infection still persists after the other scanners have done their job.

With another proactive/periodic scanner at the same time? No.

If you are suspect of having a virus you should use these though.

I ahve heard not to use 2 scanners at once, but people on this forum seem to be running 2-3 at the same time....

Edit: Thanks Dinesh for response. I will start new thread to ask question so I don't hijack this thread. The combo thing was my original question pretty much. I am looking at the lists on this thread and there are alot of free AV out there.
