Have you put you problem to Microsoft Troubleshooting Pages, I found they are very good, as an additional source of info'.
If you Approach Toshiba, tell them the hard drive just went blank and stopped working.
As they are only interested in the hardware NOT THE SOFTWARE, they could send you a new pre-installed hard drive.
Another approach is to take it back to the dealer and say it has gone on the blink. Main dealers will give you a new computer.
Although Microsoft say that OEM installers should be responsible for their software, Toshiba is digging their heels in against it.
I think you have learnt your lesson, NEVER wipe the hard drive clean. If you do online banking with Barclays, they will supply
a copy of Kaspersky for free for the future.
