Toshiba NB-500 Realtek wireless card

Hi all, I can't find a driver for that adapter on toshiba web site:

Toshiba

That site requests:

- portable
- toshiba
- nb series
- 500
- PLL50E
- Windows 7 32 bit

Then all drivers and manufacturer utilities should be available for download.
I've installed the following, not all toshiba utilities

But wifi adapter results unmanaged in windows devices manager.

follow this link, the PCI/vend code = realtek8188ce wifi.

Realtek

Download it to your desktop.
goto device manager update the problem/unknown device
from my comp >> let me choose.

I followed your link but I can't find any downloadable driver for 8188ce wifi adapter in that web page...

open the link, left 1/2 way down enter rtl8188, it gives the SU suffix, thats the one.

I've done and after searched for that pattern redirected to the following page:

In that page you can see the link
"RTL8188SU (Software)" that points to the following url:

But again it redirect me to an empty web page this time...
Have you check those links?
Can you try and report if the driver file download works for you?

I'm not so sure it is the right one: my adapter should be 8188CE not 8188SU

For 8188ce you want the 8192ce driver

It is included in this pack - along with plenty of others.

Unless you can find your way round East European sites, you are probably better using SDI. The downloads are huge packs, though.

I can confirm the linked Realtek zip archive has solved and now network controller in device manager appears regularly managed by the 8192ce driver.
I had a look to sdl-tool and I find it very interesting.

If I well understood there are two way to use it:
- "sdl full": through a large archive (12 GB) containing all known drivers
- "sdl lite": which scans local system hardware, looking for these HW IDs in a remote database and finally download them from that repository and install on the local system.

The first choice is a little too "resources expansive" if you are not a technician and are used to do just few fresh installations per year.
On the other hand, as in my above case, I had no working wifi driver on the system, so there was no internet connection available. In that case "SDL Lite" would not have worked...

I'd like a way to scan an offline system and print out the HW IDs list on a local file. Then transfer the list file on an other machine connected to internet and search related drivers against a remote database and download all the drivers in a folder. Finally transfer back that folder on the target offline machine and install the drivers it contains. If SDI-tool had some options to reach the above procedure it would be very useful. Moreover would be also better if the online part of such a tool was working from OS other than windows: for example, on my main PC is running Linux and it is regularly connected to internet.
I'd like to run from linux a command like:

driver-manager download -input hwids-list -output mydrivers_package

which wold download need drivers for HW IDs of the input list and put them in "mydrivers_package" folder.
HW-IDs list would be created by running the tool on windows target machine, let's imagine the same tool working also on windows (a multi-platform script could be the solution, something in python for example).

driver-manager make_idslist -output hwids-list

The final install from windows offline machine:

driver-manager install -input mydrivers_package
