I have had no luck installing 7 on my Qosmio G35-AV600.

Tried several versions (beta, RC, RTM) all crash on the same spot during install.

I know the OS's are good as I am using the RTM to type this post on my desktop.

When I install - clean on a formatted drive - about halfway through the computer reboots, blue screen error flashes (too fast to read) and the start windows normally screens comes up. The notebook has onboard raid and I have to manually install the drivers as requested by windows since the install cannot see my (2) sata drives. Tried the Vista Toshiba Raid driver and XP driver which I believe are actually the same.

Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip! It led me to a solution.

I ended up using 'Darik's Boot and Nuke' Darik's Boot And Nuke | Hard Drive Disk Wipe and Data Clearing

I wiped the harddrive clean using your suggestion then reinstalled 7 and all went smooth. The software is very thorough and runs for a couple of hours but did the job. I had previously formatted this drive using the windows 7 install disc - Quick and Standard. Neither worked properly for some reason.

Now I have 2 computers on a network running 7 and the whole process couldn't be any easier using HomeGroup.

I am very comfortable setting up networks but 7 does just about everything for you. It handles all the permissions and security settings automatically.

Thanks again!!

Hello.
I have a Toshiba Qosmio G36AV600. I bought this laptop in 2006. I visited Toshiba´s website and they said that in this laptop Windows 7 can not be installed. I tried to install windows 7 Ultimate and when the laptop reboots the blue screen appears. I used the Disk Wipe software to format and clean my hdd, but the blue screen appears after the first reboot. Can you help me with my problem?
Thank you, Sergio.

I am using the same laptop with Win 7. Same issue you have until I used Darik's DOD Short.

I assume you used Darik's Boot and Nuke as mentioned above?

Did you try removing drive #2, Nuking drive #1 and installing Win 7?

I installed 32 bit - have not tried 64 bit 7 yet.

You can also boot into the Windows 7 DVD, select "Repair My Computer" on the second screen, then from the Recovery Tools list open a Command Line and type:

DISKPART
LIST DISK
SELECT DISK # (for Windows 7 target HD)
CLEAN ALL (the "all" will zero the HD which is the deepest clean possible)
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY
SELECT PARTITION 1
ASSIGN LETTER=C:
ACTIVE
FORMAT
EXIT

Now boot back into Win7 DVD, plug ethernet, select "Connect to Internet during Install" to get latest drivers/updates, select Custom, Advanced drive tools, apply quick Format again, then install.

Hello,
Thank you very much for your help. I did what you said but after the LIST DISK command i have the following message: "the are no fixed disk to show".
Thank you for your help.

Have you tried the fixes listed in posts #2 and #3. For some reason Diskpart cannot see the HD.

If you decide to try Darik's, here you go.

Download

Download Darik's Boot and Nuke from SourceForge.net

Create a bootable dvd of the .iso using imgburn

The Official ImgBurn Website

Set Bios to boot to cd or dvd and Darik's will start.

Choose the DOD (Dept of Defense) Short option and let it run.
Will take a couple of hours.

When finished, take out disc, insert Win 7 and reboot.

If Win7 does not recognize the hard drive, you will need to reboot again and load the proper Toshiba drivers (download and put them on a CD from the Toshiba website) when promted to load 3rd party drivers.

Your problem is likely the RAID config. We are getting more of these every day.

Hello, thank you very much.
I do not how to use Darik's Boot And Nuke, so i tried with DiskWipe Software, www.diskwipe.org
I retired the two hdd from the laptop and i wipe and clean them with another computer with the diskwipe software, i think that this software has the same function that Darik's.
After that i tried to install windows 7, but i still have the bsod's problem.
Thank you for your help.

Can you try with only one HD and lose the RAID config?

Set Raid setting in Bios to JBOD (just a bunch of discs)
Use the Dariks as I haved outlined above. Very simple and it worked for me. Just because Disc Wipe is similar doesn't mean it is the same. Darik's gives you the option of different types of cleaners and only the DOD Short worked for me - give it a try.

I am fairly certain that I had to load the drivers for the raid controller even with Win7 - Win7 doesn't contain the raid controller drivers for older Toshibas. I believe if you are not required to add the drivers when asked to load 3rd party drivers than you are not completely wiping the system.

You need the Raid controller driver even if you don't use Raid - its a little odd due to the notebooks factory dual HD's.

I believe I had to download the latest XP Raid Drivers from Toshibas site since the notebook is originally packaged with XP. If the drive(s) are not recognized after loading the XP driver than the Vista driver is what I used.

Don't give up. It tooks me weeks of trying and studying to get Win 7 on my notebook but I did it and it runs great. My next upgrade will be a Intel Solid State Drive when the prices come down so I can enjoy 20 second boot-ups like I have read about.

As a side note - when I tried to do a clean Vista install years ago I ran into the same troubles. At that time I followed Toshibas instructions and had to do a fresh XP install then the Upgrade version of Vista Ultimate.
