I recently upgraded my girlfriend's computer from Windows Vista to Windows 7 Professional (32 bit). Everything seemed to be working fine, but when she opened up Skype for the first time, she found that Skype no longer recognized her microphone. In fact, when I go to the audio manager, the microphone shows up as a device, but doesn't recognize any of the sounds I make. I was wondering what the problem is with this; is it a problem with Windows 7, is she missing a driver, or what?

Sound recording is not recognised just in Skype? Did you try to record sound in Windows(With Sound Recorder)?

What I had to do is go to the Toshiba support site and download and install the appropriate conexant sound driver for my Toshiba.

Go here Toshiba Support - Homepage and click on Product Support, find your system and then your driver. Should fix your mic problem.
Hope it helps.
