So I bought a pair of Astro A40's (gaming headset with seperate audio control) while pax was going on (They had a 15% off code) so I went for it. I don't have my comp up and running quite yet and have not played a game in a few weeks on my 360 cause of work but with MoH (Medal of Honor) out and CoD Black Ops soon to come I feel I need to get them out of my closet, where they have been for the past month untouched.

One of the optional surround sound cables is a TOSlink cable, I stopped by BestBuy today to get some compressed air since I ran out and checked their prices. It was 30$ for a 8' I believe and 25$ for a 4'. My dad has ordered some HDMI cables from cablewholesale.com before so I was wondering if I should do the same.

I have read a lot about how the cheaper cables are the same quality, and after looking at cablewholesale.com they are 4$ to 10$ in comparison to Best Buy's stuff.

What would you guys suggest? Best Buy seems like a rip off and the cables from cablewholesale.com es I have have worked fine.

Astro Gaming sells them with the audio system as well but i figured I could get it cheaper, here is what they charge:

6 Feet - Add $14.95
12 Feet - Add $19.95
25 Feet - Add $29.95

Didn't know what section to post this in so I figured here would be ok.

As always, thanks in advance!

I purchase my cables from monoprice.com. In fact, I just moved my computer area around in my basement and my current 12 foot digital optical cable is not long enough and I am getting a 35ft cable from monoprice and it's about $6.

What would you guys have to say about the quality of the cables compared to the more expensive commercial ones? I've been told its just a big scam, as they are all pretty much the same quality.

For that short of a distance, it doesn't really matter.

What about something from 12ft to 35ft?

Not of any consequence. I'd go with the deal mentioned by pparks.

PParks bought it from monoprice.com. That's where I'd go then.

The quality for monoprice is fantastic. I know of bunch of AV friends and we all buy cables from them and the quality is fantastic and the prices are awesome. The commercial cables in the retail stores are sold at huge markups.
