Total Freeze on Reboot

I am running Win 7 Pro x64. My profile is up-to-date

I just shut down my machine and remembered a task I'd forgotten. I rebooted as soon as it was 'quiet' and encountered this string at the top of the display:

113-1E628A-888 RV678 GDDR4_16MX32 256BIT_

It was white letters on a black screen.

I took a fuzzy digital photo and copied the text to Notepad and proofread it twice.

Neither power button and none of the keystrokes I could remember had any effect. I pulled the power and plugged it back in. The subsequent boot seemed 'normal' and has allowed me to create this post.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

Here's a hint.

I truncated the string to the second half "GDDR4_16MX32 256BIT_" and searched.

Google returned 324 hits. The first hit matches my graphics card, Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 PCIe 512 Mb.

Best is to wait 10 seconds to turn on any electronic device when you turn it off. May have been a temporary glitch.
