Total reinstall

I recently ran SFC on my nieces's computer, when finished it showed a couple of "integrity violations" - I can't recall the exact wording right now.
My question; Is there a way to do an 'in-place total reinstall' without having to download/install all the Windows Updates again?

Neither she nor I plan on upgrading to Windows 10 - at least for a quite some time.

Does the PC have a "factory recovery" partition? You could use that to restore to a factory state.

It most likely does if it was made by one of the large outfits like Dell, Lenovo, Acer, etc.

There's also a "repair install".

A Factory Recovery, Repair Install will all require a boat load of Windows 7 Updates.

Did you run sfc /scannow 3 times and restarting between each time?

Reply to the first response; No, she doesn't have 'factory recovery' - it's a generic machine and when ordered all necessary discs came with it.

L-Bear, No, I didn't run SFC three times, but I'll give it a try. I know the Updates will take loads of time. Thanks!

The two files are marked as static files in the update. When an advanced user runs the System File Checker Tool (sfc.exe), the files are unintentionally flagged as corrupted. There is no impact or actual corruption on a device that is running this update, and this issue will be fixed in a later service update.

Just ran SFC and tried to copy and paste using EasyScreen, but it didn't copy. I'll have to check my notes and use that copy system I was told to use once before.

The end results of those steps should be a text file on your desktop named sfcdetails.txt
