Touch Pack for everyone!!!

Microsoft decided to release the Touch Pack to us users today, not just OEMS.

The Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 was first introduced last May as a series of 6 applications that are designed to showcase Windows Touch in Windows 7 and to help people learn touch gestures. It consists of 3 casual games, and 3 Microsoft Surface applications that have been created for Windows 7.

Until today, the Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 was only available for OEMs to put on new Windows 7 PCs capable of Windows Touch. Due to feedback and requests from both partners and customers, we are releasing the Microsoft Touch Pack for Windows 7 for anyone with Windows Touch capable devices to download.

If you have a Windows 7 PC or a multitouch monitor that supports Windows Touch in Windows 7, the Touch Pack for Windows 7 is a good way for you to be able to truly test the multitouch investments we’ve made in Windows 7.

Last I checked HP, Dell, Acer, ASUS, Hanns-G, etc (major brands) do not make touchscreens, its mainly those 'we've never heard of you before' names. Could be wrong though.

I had the beta on my computer before and it worked fine on my computer with single touch input. However, I just went to install this RTM from MS, and it would'nt let me. Ah well, I guess I'll have to dig up the beta install file again

I meant more of touchscreen monitors. Rather then All-in-ones or laptops/netbooks/tablets.

All you need is a webcam, cardboard box, and a thin sheet of glass with a paper over it.
That is for the cheap version.

The better quality one requires a nice IR Camera, a thick sheet of acrylic, IR LEDs, and some woodshop skills.

It's something that i've been trying to justify in my head, great idea, i just don't see myself using it all that much with my current setup

All you need is a webcam, cardboard box, and a thin sheet of glass with a paper over it.
That is for the cheap version.

The better quality one requires a nice IR Camera, a thick sheet of acrylic, IR LEDs, and some woodshop skills.

I am 100% serious.
I have built the cardboard box version, and it worked (by which I mean in principle, it was so finicky I chucked the whole thing in the trash).

Oh, and the thing is Multi-touch.
I should mention as well:
1) The total price comes out to more than the Dell monitor linked above (I had it priced to about $500, not including a TV)
2) It is much more customizable, but requires a lot of effort.
