Guys...i hav a sony vaio VPCEH and my touch pad is not working. i tried 2 reinstall my drivers, enable all settings 2 be enabled 4 a touchpad 2 work. but m able 2 use a mouse.
ny ideas??
Too often or not that would suggest the wear and tear has made it's debut as far as the sensitive touch contacts. Touch pads included on laptops or included on keyboards are not replaceable items to begin with.
In fact for laptop owners here I ordered separate trackball type mice with dual scroll wheels(both vertical and horizonal scroll) to avoid wearing out the touch pads especially when the laptops are constantly being borrowed by the younger novice users who can be ruff and tuff on equipment!
As a rule touchpads are the same as plugging in any mouse without drivers and still being able to move the cursor around. You can check the Device Manager under input and human interface devices but likely won't find any yellow marked items.
Unfortunately if the laptop has been in use for 2-3yrs. it is likely showing the signs of wear where the touch pad has lost it's sensitivity and will necessitate the use of a mouse. Sometimes blasting out the keyboard area with a can of air cleaner can help however if dirt and other debris just happens to be lodged in there causing the problem.

Hope this message reach u before u have started experimenting any harsh ones as above.. I had same problem for over a year and since I mostly used on my desk, was feeling fine with the mouse until just a few minutes back when I solved it out. The problem happens when windows get updated to its latest driver for the Alps touchpad for Sony.. Actually it gets recognized as Synaptics PS/2 usb... If u simply uninstall that driver, u can see it working but again it gets updated and u get returning the problem.
So the final way it worked out for me was to install the latest driver from synaptics - Drivers | Synaptics.
That's if he hasn't already fixed the problem this being 3 months later? At least he will be able to update on his progress so far if he replies back here.
