On October 1st, we introduced Office Sway to the world as a brand new app joining the Office portfolio to help people quickly and easily bring their ideas to life in a new way. We also kicked off Sway Preview, putting an intentionally early and “feature light” version of Sway into the hands of customers in order to shape the future of the product together. With Sway, we’re reimagining what it means to be productive in a mobile-first and cloud-first world—taking action anytime and anywhere you have an idea or inspiration.

We’re a few weeks into Sway Preview, and we’ve been thrilled by the overwhelming interest we’ve had so far. Each week we’re inviting thousands of people from our waitlist to join us on our journey. If you’re still waiting for an invite, we want to thank you for your patience. In the meantime, be sure to follow and engage with us on Twitter and Facebook.

We’ve been fascinated to learn about the creative and unique ways people are already using Sway. It’s great to see many of the uses we had in mind come alive, and it’s been great to see new uses we didn’t imagine. Here are just a few examples of some of the great uses of Sway we’ve seen:
Each day we’re working to improve Sway based on your feedback. In some cases, this will mean improving existing functionality. In other cases, this will mean working toward new functionality and capabilities that only Sway can deliver.

One of the questions we want to answer during Preview is how to ensure Sway’s new authoring experience works best across all your devices. For example, do people want to create in the same way on a four-inch device, as they want in a web browser?

To test this, we recently began rolling out our first mobile app. Sway for iPhone is currently available in New Zealand, and it will roll out in the U.S. and other English-speaking countries soon. People who sign in to Sway for iPhone will automatically be able to use Sway Preview on the web.

Launching Sway for iPhone in New Zealand continues our approach to listening closely to our customers, adapting to their feedback, and building the future of Sway together. We’ll be responding to initial reactions and improving the app experience before making it more broadly available. Check out this Sway explaining what Sway for iPhone is all about:

We’re on an exciting journey with Sway, which is vividly coming to life with the great Sways we’ve seen our users create and the thoughtful and inspiring feedback we’ve gotten so far. We can’t wait to see what comes next!

Sway team, @Sway
