Solved Touchpad and mouse

Troubles never end. Lenovo E545 the touchpad works, the mouse doesn't. I need it the other way around.

The touchpad on a Notebook/Netbook is the equivalent of a mouse. One can plug in a USB Wired or Wireless mouse then locate the feature to turn off the touchpad, either a switch, an Fn + other Fx key or a version of Windows can do it when a mouse is plugged in [Win10TP can]. A feature I look for on Notebooks is the Bluetooth Wireless, doesn't take up a USB port and can connect/pair various devices.

is this a wired or a wireless mouse you having trouble with? do other usb items work? try another usb port? try another mouse? also you could check bios and see if their is an option for usb legacy support and enable it.

It's wireless and I need to enable it. Looked at devices and it looked fine. I don't know how to enable it.

Usually a Wireless mouse uses a USB nano transceiver and when plugged in and recognized by the Operating System the only thing left is assuring a fresh battery in the mouse and turning it on, small switch on the bottom. Most mice don't get recognized until turned on so if the mouse is recognized in Control Panel, Mouse then it should be usable but there may need to be some settings made or changed.

Did it come with software disk and instruction manual on how to turn it on ?

All my softwarw is in Dallas but it's a Gear Head 2.4 Gb optical Model # MPT3300BLK.

It does have an obvious on - off switch and your sure the battery is good
If it's on and still does not work it could be a defect ?

I replaced the battery. Touchpad still gives me fits.
