My Gateway LT 40 netbook fn key doesn't work neither do any F keys. Those keys with ctrl, alt, number 1 and M do not work after I opened it and upgraded ram. I want to unlock the touchpad but all suggestions use fn or f2 on boot. I'm going to buy a mouse and I'm just using it as my second pc now. I just wanted to use the touchpad for a while. Will I ever be able to unlock it?

Did you unplug the Notebook and remove the battery then either wait a few minutes or press the On/Off button to drain residual power from the motherboard before working with the memory modules? Not doing so on Notebooks and Desktops can result in damage to the motherboard but the damage may show up immediately or later on.

What happens if you downgrade/reinstall original RAM?

I unplugged it and the pulled the battery, those keys in my original post did not work after that upgrade, it was working like that for six months and I used an onscreen keyboard, but since Sunday I have a remote keyboard with touchpad and that works fine. I don't need to take it anywhere I'm just using it with my TV plus I have another laptop so I guess I can call this solved.
