Tracfone and Androids

I do not use my cell phone much, so I used a discount company. I use Tracfone service is actually provided by ATT. I have been using a very good flip, dumb phone for the past 4 years, but would like to upgrade to an Android. Is any in the USA familiar with Tracfone and the Android selection that they make available? It is not helpful to give you the phone models, since these are not the same phones that are made available through the primary service providers. Since I use the phone on a very limited basis, the cost is $7 a month. Any comments will be appreciated

hey richc46, I have an lg optimus dynamic lg-38c android and it works great. it does more then I need it to do. it is a tracfone with triple minutes for the life of the phone. you buy 200 min card and it gives you 600 min. it is all I need and it works fine for my needs. hope this helps you. poorguy

how do you mean good and bad moments. I talk and text and web surf on mine and have never had a bad moment on mine. the only bad that I have heard about with androids is some of the apps don't download. I don't need any of them for what I do. it is a phone. poorguy

Hi Rich,
Not sure as to what plans they offer in your country.
However since you are going to use an Android for the first time, I'd say go for LG Nexus 5.
It is stock Android experience, better specifications and simple interface. Also, the cost is marginal.

Hey Rich

I find that it's easier for me to use StraightTalk. They have a built-in network of distribution (WalMart) and they use the same towers as TracFone. Just check with the salesman to make sure you're getting service from the right towers. Just knowing that you'll need CDMA isn't enough. CDMA-V works with Verizon, etc... and GSM is labeled the same way on the phone. Check the package before you buy.

I use a Samsung Galaxy Centura on CDMA-V and I have NO complaints other than my signal at home, but I live between three very large hills and anticipated this when I moved here.

yup my tracfone is an lg and Verizon is my carrier no complaints. yeah walmart straight talk does seem to be a good deal also.
