I am using a laptop.
Is there any way to know when A/C power failure was there,
when system went to standby and so on.

I believe that it is possible with powercfg. Go to powershell (start menu type in search box) and type in powercfg /?. It will give you a list of functions.
Ill report back when I find a specific function that seems suitable.
btw, welcome!
-last awake: can give details about the last time the computer woke from sleep.

The event viewer can also help you probably.
Go to start menu, type in event viewer. Hit enter and you should see (if you expand the folders) a list of events that occured on the system

edit: Also, this appears to be a good program to use for your purpose.

You should be able to find out through the event viewer, I would think.

i tried with the tool capella gave. I checked the boxes to log "lock" and "unlock".
Then i locked the system and unlocked. But the only line added to the log file was:
"====< SimpleActivityLogger v1.0 RC1 - Coruscant Ltd. - Object-Oriented Software Engineering >====".
nothing else.
